We would be delighted to help you with a wedding or a baptism — whether you are part of our church family already or have never been through the door.
Congratulations — we are delighted for you both. If you live within the parish of Emmanuel you automatically qualify for a church wedding. If you live elsewhere you may still have what is called a qualifying connection, which makes it possible for us to celebrate your wedding. If none of that means anything to you, just get in touch and we will work it out together.
When you contact us we will arrange the relevant forms, and one of our ministers will be in touch to help you prepare both the service and yourselves for married life. We usually read the banns of marriage in the month before your ceremony — we would love you to join us at least once to hear them read. It is quite a moment.
Emmanuel itself is not the most picturesque building. Happily we can also offer weddings in a number of other churches, by kind agreement of their ministers and PCCs — so do not let our 1970s architecture put you off.

Basic fees generally cover the priest or minister, verger, organist, marriage certificate, administration, maintenance, banns and PCC fees where applicable.
Other items — choir, bells and sometimes flowers — are optional extras. These are not available at every church, and where they are the fees are set by that church. For help working out the cost of your ceremony, speak to the church office on 01604 402150 or office@emmanuelgroup.org.uk.
A christening and a baptism are the same thing. If you are exploring one, we are delighted that you are responding to God’s invitation to join his family. If you live in the parish of Emmanuel — a large area of the NN3 postcode — you, or the person you are asking about, are eligible for baptism with us.
We offer both infant baptism and believer’s baptism. Some people have their children christened and make a special day of it. Others prefer to make the decision to follow Jesus for themselves later in life. As a church living within both the Church of England and Baptist traditions we are glad to offer and support both. They are equally valid, and equally exciting — there is no right or wrong way to approach it.
Because you are joining a family, we like to get to know you first. Unless it is an emergency, we ask that you come along to at least one service a month for the three months before the baptism, to get to know us and see whether you think you will enjoy being part of our family. We always like to hear why someone has come for baptism — we love hearing and telling stories of faith.
Whatever stage you are at — sure, unsure, or just curious — get in touch and we will do our best to help. Telephone 01604 402150 or email office@emmanuelgroup.org.uk. The church office is open Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 2.00pm.
